Spring Means Farmers' Markets Open

Spring is here and that means that all the local Farmers' Markets are opening this coming weekend, April 3rd, including our own downtown market.

The Cary Downtown Farmers' Market is located just on the edge of downtown, on Chatham Street East, before the Maynard crossing, in Chatham Square Center. The market will open at 8am until 12.30pm Saturdays and will also be open on Tuesdays 3-6pm.

This coming Saturday, Cary Mayor Harold Weinbrecht will open the market with a few pertinent remarks. There will be music, face-painting for the kids and the first vegetables, cut flowers and herbs of the spring available for sale.

Jitters will be selling cups of coffee to drink with the baked goods for sale.

2010 Spring Sertoma Music Series

In the first of six free events in the 2010 Spring Sertoma Series, the Cary Town Band will present music of a bygone era, complete with marches, waltzes and rags of the 1890s and early 1900s, at the Town of Cary’s Sertoma Amphitheatre at Bond Park, 801 High House Road, on Friday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. This small 21 year-old, 30-piece band is typical of the town bands of that era.

“Our goal is to present the very best artists in Cary and beyond in our Sertoma Series,” said Town of Cary Performing Arts Coordinator Sarah Preston. “From traditional jazz bands to adult choirs to youth performers, the Spring Sertoma Series is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy free outdoor events.”

For complete details on all events, visit Sertoma Series at www.townofcary.org or call (919) 469-4061.
